Show Design, A/V playback and Show Direction
I collaborated closely with George Fitzgerald to design and produce the visuals and lighting for his Stellar Drifting live tour.
The Concept Adapting a concept by David Rudnick, we treated the stage’s LED screens as a digital version of vintage 90s trivision billboards. The virtual triangular prisms could rotate independently to create fragmented, abstract compositions, or move in unison to display cohesive, sweeping motion synchronized with the music.
The Execution This aesthetic choice significantly increased the production workload; because each 'face' of the trivision prism required unique content, the volume of moving image assets effectively tripled. Despite the demanding animation pipeline, the outcome was rewarding. By triggering these complex sets via MIDI data from George’s Ableton rig, we achieved a show that was both visually dense and tightly responsive to the live performance.
